I agree with the poster that MyWot has absolutely no credibility as a rating system. They have themselves acknowledged they use "undercover people" - which shows a sign of manipulation by their own employees. Few of their internal and high rated members that post bad comments about sites to manipulate ranks. Apparently without bad comments their site would serve no purpose. They are trying to become a reputable company and associate themselves with larger partners like Facebook, but when you base a rating system on flawed human decision making, the whole system cannot be relied upon. The way they behave and how some of their members behave, you have to wonder if they are working out of a small garage somewhere. If this continues, I give them a year to be out of business! 

Mywot ratings are not credible in my case and in my opinion for the following reasons:

1) as soon a website is first classified, it seems that its rating is right away low, that rationally makes no sense since if a website is new, why should be bad by principle. Moreover most people rate websites when they are bad, not when they are good, so it should start from the maximum and eventually lose reputation. Mywot does not do that affecting potentially millions of businesses that way.

2) by my experience (and expertise) botnets can easy manipulate the mywot rating, since have thousands or more computers whose IP is not static, whose netmask is unique and despite what Sami Tovlanen (or whatever his name is), the mywot owner, will likely state here in a desperate rush to repair HIS reputation, the wot system does not work well against rating manipulation

3) even companies that seem to have NO problems with their own customers, with basically no refunds, no complaints whatsoever, are rated with bad ratings, including "child safety warning" low rating that, beside being a disgusting accuse, in our country, could be called a crime, so called defamation. What if sami tovlanen is going to be accused of child safety warning all of a sudden? would he complain? i guess so. If you are accusing, either through people's rating (that you publish) or through your pages that a company is not "child safe" make sure you can prove it and be ready to be held responsible for that, since mywot cannot write laws yet, you cannot tell people what and where to do.

4) even when these proofs are gathered and submitted to mywot, are basically and practically ignored and, as per my experience, their attitude can become quite aggressive and threatening. Actually even stupid, since they keep pushing to read their guidelines, that i cannot care the less about.

5) unbelievably, many good-rated sites on mywot are russian, indian and so on, sites and this fact looks pretty weird not because specific russian sites are famous  for their spam activity (many .ru) but because we have no business in russia or india. so how could they rate us...

6) some online resources reported a unfair activity by mywot in order to self-promote  its website, that seems to have been buying "likes" on facebook. There seems to be a news about mywot being deprived of around 25,000 likes on facebook. how could we trust Sami...

Conclusion: in my modest opinion, MYWOT rating are not always credible and this missed trustworthiness could be more widespread that what it seems.

Moreover, their harassing and arrogant attitude seems to hide something even worse.

Either you didn't read the Ripoff Report that I submitted here or you pretend you did not see the contents and proof. These are what i called "Evidences". Get an English-to-Finnish dictionary and check the definition. When we called it evidence, it means we are using it against your company. When we claimed that your website system is corrupted, we have a reason to say so and therefore we provided the evidences. To prepare the evidence we opened a fake project on Freelancer.com and within 7 days we received many offers from your Platinum, Gold etc members to change a website reputation in return for money. We communicated with one of the corrupted people on that 
system whom you admitted that it was YOU. I don't comment on that and leave it for the readers to judge. We took screenshots from your communication and provided the evidences here.

As I said, there is no point crying over the spilled milk. So stop ignoring the crystal clear evidences here and read it all over again.

In short, you guys attack a business with negative ratings and then sell the Green (good) ratings back to the same business. It is pure fraud and scam.

I don't sign it with my real name as you guys show no real name on your website as well as no phone number to call and speak to a customer service agent. This is another proof that you are not transparent about your system and your company suspicious activities.

I am employed by WOT, but I'm not in charge of everything. As in every corporation, the CEO and the board of directors are in charge.

You were trying to buy ratings and failed miserably. We routinely respond to requests to buy ratings on various sites and even post job ads of our own to catch those who try to game the system. So far, we have found nobody capable of manipulating ratings on these sites and nobody who has successfully managed to buy a reputation.

Those who we catch trying to sell reputations are banned. On the other hand, sites for which the owner is trying to buy a reputation are placed on a watch list. These sites are carefully checked for signs of manipulation from the past and in future.

During the past few months, we have learned a lot about people who use these sites in an attempt to improve their reputations. Watch out for a report of our covert missions on our website in the coming months. In the mean while, if you're trying to buy or sell ratings, you better watch out. :)

Our Answer :   So MyWOT hire full time (undercover!) polices to check on ' POSSIBLE' cheats on their system , specifically on Freelancer.com (where people look for jobs) ? 

Dear Sami Tolvanen, there is no point crying over spilled milk.  Right after I prepared the evidences and made it public (which will be more to come by the way)  you've come up with this screenshot saying the person was asking me 1000 USD to clear up our bad rating is YOU ????   Oh great, so the management is too corrupted that they check websites here and there to earn money ? oh sorry, you are not there to earn money, let's do the math, you have 30 milion users on MyWOT as we speak, so you must have at least over 30,000 polices on the web patrolling right?  Sounds like a government!

The reason we posted that project on "freelancer.com" was to prove that powered users (e.g platinum,gold etc) are making money using a corrputed system called MyWOT  (and we already made it public here). So by admitting that you are on that website selling MyWOT ratings to website owners, you did us a big favor.   Thank you !

1) We have tens of millions of ratings, most of them are from users who are not highly active on our site. You may be confusing ratings with comments, which do not affect reputations. What comes to your concerns about our highly active users, they are answered in our FAQ:

2) This is pure nonsense. Activity levels have nothing to do with how much ratings are trusted. In fact, our most trusted users are ones who don't rate an unusual number of websites. You can read more here:

3) Our users are not criminals. If your site has been rated poorly, there are typically two reasons: a) the site has been compromised had was used for phishing or distributing malware, or b) people do not trust the site. In the first case, requesting a review on the forum will fix the reputation if the site is clean again. In the second case, there's nothing you can do to fix the reputation since people do not trust your site.
