Sky Warrior Books Garnet Mountain Press Publishing company reluctant to pay authors Clinton MT

I am one of three authors, that I know of, who have signed contracts with Sky Warrior Books. All three have had bad experiences and are now strugling to re-establish our profeshional reputations. The contracts state that Sky Warrior will publish a given manuscript and the author will recive a royality statement every three months. The contract further states that Sky Warrior will pay the author a precentage of the book's profits (50% in my case) quarterly assuming such payments amount to $5.00 or more. This is a typical arangement and I regularly recive royality statements and payments (without having to ask) from two other small publishers I also have contracts with.

The problem is, Sky Warrior does not send out regular statements. I had my novel on their catalog for almost a year and recived no statements. I did recive a payment out of the blue last month, but for less than $5.00 and with no explination. Perhaps that was so Sky Warrior could claim that "I have been paid." When I requested a royality statement, I was given the excuse that their staff had been busy and I would get it next month. After three months of excuses, I stoped being polite and now my contract is terminated (by them not me).

There are probably thousands of would-be authors in the world who are desperatly looking for a publisher. Many would be thrilled to sign with a small press just to get their foot in the door. What they don't need, however, is a rip-off publisher who profits from their work, pays them little to nothing, lies to them and will threaten to sue the author over "interuptions in the publishing scedual" or "aditional editing expenses" or other rediculous, after the fact nonscence that has nothing to do with the terms of the contract.
