My home was 2 weeks behind in payments. I was solicited by phone to hire this lawyer for $1200.00 to stop foreclosure. (My house never went into foreclosure, I sold it) A person named Curtis convinced me how this would prevent my house from being foreclosed on. He informed me at anytime if I was not satisfied I could get my money back. I agreed, not knowing anything about the process. About 6 weeks I had heard nothing and a lawyer called and told me that there was only 1% chance of saving my house. So I said I did not want their service and to return my money. They continued to take money out of my account until I closed it. Last December I got a Email saying that they were going to return my money by the 15th of January. Every week I call them and each time they have a new excuse. I am paying interest on this money. I live on disability. I have a number of e-mails from their law office saying that they would return my money and apologizing for the inconviences, but they won't send me my money back or tell me why. They win't even respond to me anymore. I am still wondering if it is a scam. But I called the Fl Bar and say he is a real lawyer. What can I do?

The client received a refund as promised. Unfortunately, because the firm underwent a restructuring, it took a little bit longer than usual. Our office was in contact with the client via email and had advised her of the situation. As for "Curtis" making promises, we do not have nor have we ever had an employee at the firm by that name. This issue has been resolved.
