In 1998 a man named Dale McKinney aka (Dude Dukes) found his way to a Jonesborough Tennessee recording studio. Dale wanted to record 10 songs and the engineer made a trade with him for a Gibson guitar. During the recording session a man named Jon Holtz of Warhead Records Kingsport, TN walks through the door. When Dale finished his session that day he met Jon Holtz and introduced himself. Dale McKinney was star struck when Jon Holtz announced himself as this record producer with ties to Nashville and Memphis. Dale immediately asks Jon if he could help him get signed to a record contract or help him pitch his songs. Jon said he could do this and they would meet another time to work out a deal. After Dale left, Jon Holtz started asking the engineer for information about the Dale. The engineer then told Jon Holtz that Dale McKinney was a handicap man and that he had an accident a few years early and that the accident had caused a brain injury. Jon Holtz asked the engineer if Dale had any money and the engineer replied, I think he gets a check. Jon Holtz asked the engineer how much did he pay for the recordings he had just made and the engineer replied that it was a trade for a guitar. Days later Dale McKinney met Jon Holtz at the same studio at the request of Jon Holtz to speak with him and the engineer to discuss a “DEAL”. The engineer immediately told Jon Holtz that he “The Engineer” was his own business and that Jon Holtz would have to pay him for studio time and for the band Jon Holtz wanted and did record one of Dales songs to pitch. Jon Holtz promised to pitch the song to AC DC and ZZ TOP through Joe Hardy in Memphis TN. Dale McKinney and the engineer never believed the song was pitched by Jon Holtz and had the feeling Dale had been scammed. Jon Holtz charged Dale McKinney $1800.00 to record, produce and pitch the song. After weeks and many attempts to contact Jon Holtz to get an answer about the status of Dale’s song being pitched to Joe Hardy, Dale McKinney became upset and questioned if he had just been ripped off. The engineer advised Dale to seek an attorney to make sure the deal went through. The engineer also advised dale that he had nothing to do with Warhead Records and had many times made this clear to Dale McKinney, because the engineer felt that Jon Holtz was a fraud and dishonest person after the recording session. Jon Holtz continued to argue with Dale and agitate him until he was mad. Jon Holtz told the engineer that he was tired of Dale McKinney and was going to agitate him into a fight because Jon Holtz knew Dale McKinney was mentally unstable. The engineer advised Jon Holtz to leave Dale McKinney alone because the man was unstable and handicapped. Jon Holtz told the engineer and his wife that he was going to agitate Dale McKinney into a fight and incise him to throw a punch and call the police and try and sue him for more money. The next night Jon Holtz and his wife Tina Holtz went to the engineers house and spoke with the engineer and his wife and said ”it just happened “ Dale McKinney punched me and I called the police and I’m going to press charges and sue him for his check. Jon Holtz offered the engineer money if, the engineer would go to court and testify in Jon Holtz behalf. The engineer replied “absolutely not” what you are doing is wrong. Jon Holtz sued Dale McKinney in court for around $6000.00 and had just screwed Dale out of 1800.00 on the song deal. In my opinion Jon Holtz and Warhead records needs to have the whistle blown on them and that is what I’m doing. FRAUD BY DECEPTION

Ok, Jon saved your dog. That's great. That is if this is not Jon himself
posting this ?? I've known and dealt with for over 20 years and I have
never met anyone so dishonest and crooked. When it comes to money and
the music business he is a know nothing that likes to play the big shot.
I have never know of one person is all these years that has done
business with him without being ripped off. Not one. That's just the way
it is.
Oh but he does love dogs lol So yes I guess that is something. Just don't go into business with him.
Take care

Jon Holtz is a decent person

A very good friend's dog had run away due to negligence of a visitor, who left his door open. (I think some people in Kingsport were actually raised in barns) The dog, which had a very distinctive features, (a cleft nose) was search for valiantly by the owner, until he saw a 'found dog' poster posted by Jon Holtz. Apparently the dog ran into Jon's Yard, and Jon, fearing the animal would be hit by a car, took him in and posted found dog signs.
My friend called, and identified the dog's cleft nose, and the fact you could see it's teeth even when his mouth was closed. Jon mentioned that several people had tried to claim the dog falsely, not knowing of the cleft.
My friend and I met John, saw how well he was treating the dog, and since he was moving soon anyway to somewhere he could not keep the animal, he offered Jon the chance to keep the dog, as long he he could visit it until his departure.
Jon agreed, and kept in touch with us over the 12 years he kept that dog, and treated it with kindness and care. Jon Holtz of Warhead records has always dealt with us honestly and honorably.
I don't know what kind of agenda these other posters had, I can only suspect they have a competing studio and want to hurt Jon's Business.

Jon Holtz Warhead Records Music Thief

Jada,
I must say that I am not surprised in the least. Jon Holtz revealed himself to be a thief, and a liar in my dealings with him, and I wouldn't trust him to walk my cat across the room. We believe that he (allegedly) and at different times, tried to outright steal our publishing rights to songs that we had recorded before we ever met him, and also sold the rights to "Gravity," (a song that received considerable college radio airplay) to the producer of a softcore porn film series called Video Vixens. These movies and the follow-up compilation played our song throughout and we were never paid a dime, though these films
were sold through Pay-per-view channels all over the world. Though he was never found guilty of stealing the song, he certainly never did anything to help find out who had ripped us off, and was really the only person who could have facilitated such a deal.
We have never been paid a dime of royalties on any album sales of Pouch, an album that we wrote, produced and recorded in a production deal with the Power Station Studio in New York City. A year after that album's release on our own independent label, Animal Records, Jon heard us at a club and offered to release the album as it was, artwork and all, and he stuck his own bar code on it and claimed to have produced the album, which could not be further from the truth. He then agreed to pay for another album, which we would cut in Memphis in Beale St. Studios, and tried to register the songs for that album under his own name with a BMI publisher, before we even began to record the album, a total ripoff that I found out about quite by accident.
This s*** just goes on and on. The truth is, Jon Holtz was probably more responsible for the death of that band than anyone, because of his lies and evasions. I have stories about him that I have heardsecond hand that will blow your mind. He has blatantly stole other band's CD's and promotional photos and passed them off as his own more than once. I just went to his website and he is still evidently selling our albums on it, fifteen years later, and I promise you, I will find out where that money has gone, because he has never paid us. I would like to know why you asked me about the song "Burn," which I wrote and we recorded in Memphis, TN. Unless you had heard one of those demos or heard us play live from 1996-1997, you would never have heard that song. But I would not be surprised by anything Jon has done. He is certainly capable of anything, and I am happy to report that I have not seen his face since 1997. He has continued, obviously to make money off my work, for which he has not ever EVER paid a dime to myself or my collaborators. Again, I am sorry that your uncle was treated so shabbily. My guess is that many of the bands (if not all) on the website I just visited have similar stories to tell about this parasite. You have my permission to give any of them my contact information and to share this letter. I have been a successful writer and editor, and have continued to write and perform music. I have not let the stupefying thievery of a handful of nefarious music business rodents to keep me from continuing to do the things I love. I am also sharing your note to me and this letter with my associate and collaborator, Bill *****, who co-wrote all the songs that I've mentioned above, as well as "Burn". I'm sure he will be interested in the continuing saga of this poisonous toad.
All Best Wishes,
Keith *****
