After many years abroad I wanted to start a business back in the UK and came across an interesting proposition from Enigin - Energy saving distributorship.

I done due diligence on the company and they were UK registered and had several years of good accounts which at that time was £3M per year.

Went to an open day and was suitably impressed. Signed up in Jan 2011 and attended distributor training of 3 days training. Full refund was offered if you decided not to continue after the first day and to advise them before the end of the day. The first day was still getting new information with good sales pitch and despite some apprehension I continued. Once back home with my first shipment which was the start up package I then studied the energy saving items.

They had good software for energy monitoring but I found that all hardware could be sourced cheaper elsewhere even though they inferred that it was supplied by them.

My attempts at following their business plan was a failure and I felt very bad. I am no spring chicken and have worked in management most of my life dealing with high dollar projects. Why had I failed. I   contacted four fellow distributors from the same training and all were finding exactly the same as me - the business format was not working. I also found four other UK "distributors" who had not made any money.

This was my error - knowing nothing about the industry I was trying to enter and relying on snake salesmen who were very good. They have not told any lies but you have to be knowledgable of the industry to ask relevant questions. I asked if a particular key product was patented and the reply was yes of course. What I should have asked is do Enigin have the patent on this ?. After my expensive education I could find the same item with a different badge for half the price. They know exactly what they are doing.

I have moved on and put this down to a very expensive lesson - cost £24k plus my time wasted.

It is very difficult to spread the word about this company and the recent posts have encouraged me to do so in the hope that there are less victims.

British Energy Saving Technology

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Saturday, May 09, 2015

I see that Enigin has quietly changed its name to British Energy Saving Technology - which seems to be the same company with the same key personnel. It seems their past dealings made it rather difficult to continue with any respectability hence the name change.

I am trying to figure out what type of animal they are - a wolf in sheep's clothing or a Leopard that doesn't change its' spots ?. Time will tell.

Hard facts needed

AUTHOR: David D - ()

POSTED: Saturday, January 04, 2014

It was good to see someone say something positive about Enigin but I see that Mr Pearce formed IU Energy with IU Utilities late 2012. In researching both companies I can see that IU Utilities has been doing very well with helping their clients negotiate their utility bills with the various suppliers. The IU Energy lists the energy saving products but it would be very interesting to see how many Eniscopes, CUES, iMECs, LESS and ACES have been sold by them and whether that works as a stand alone business ?.

From Mr Pearce's rebuttal it is very much like Enigin have been doing - promote all the benefits of these products but very little case histories. It would also be interesting to know how much IU Energy paid for the distribution rights. I would hazard a guess that it was nothing like the monies paid by me and my fellow ditributors over the last few years.

These reports are based on how Enigin sold a very poor business format to many distributors and only to make as much money as they could without concern for their victims and not about how they may be conducting business today. They may have changed but certainly do not seem to have a conscience with regard to their past modus operandi.

Enigin Distributor in the UK

AUTHOR: S Pearce - ()

POSTED: Thursday, December 12, 2013

During the last year as an Enigin distributor here in the South West of England I have been pleasantly surprised by how modern Enigin is as a business. The Knowledge Base, ECOS and other systems allow for great efficiency in availability of information.

The new product developments have been a great step forward in terms of being more competitive and having a market leading product at a dramatically improved price.

If I have one recommendation in terms of how Enigin can improve, it would be that as a UK based distributor, we would like more one to one support. That said, the individuals we work with, both commercially and technically are responsive and helpful.

RE: Enigin U-Turn on Business Model

AUTHOR: Fool Me Once - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, November 13, 2013

The attempt to change your image after 6 plus years of fleecing the energy market is going to be a fleeting exercise.  The writings and statements written here have been consistant and you have been shamefully silent.  By now you have fleeced hundreds of well-intended people out of millions of pounds for which there is little excuse.  Re-wording your claims is merely an effort to feel better.

That said, if you are genuine, please answer or reply the questions below (embedded in in red from your retort)

1.    The company no longer charges a ‘fee’ to become a distributor, rather just a minimum commitment to on-going product sales.

Call it what you want but is the distributor obligated to pay a monthy or quarterly "fee" in order to have access to your great products?  If so, this is just another form of a franchise fee.

 2.    All of the core products within the Enigin range are designed in-house and not sourced from third parties. There are numerous Trademarks, Patents and Copyright Design applications that protect the IPR all of which show Enigin as the outright owner.

Please offer the file numers for patent information.  Put this issue to rest.

Software connot be patented.  LESS lighting, not yours.  Energy Maps, not patentable, ACES: Older technology in a new skin. CUES: borrowed.

 3.    The company no longer wishes to be associated with the Biz-Op market. All such promotional activities have been suspended and the company will now only work with professional, established and well-resourced business preferably from within the Clean-Tec sector.

Nice.  The "Biz-op" sector has been so exploited by companies remarketing old technology under the the guise of being cutting edge and emerging concepts.

 4.    Apart from threats on sites such as this there is no court action past or pending against the company and no individual has ever been able to site a single instance where the company has made a written statement in any of its literature that has proven to be factually incorrect.

This site does not offer threats.  Perhaps make one uncomfortable but it is protected under a free enterprise system.  It does offer a format to exposee preditor and scam practices.  The truth is what you say during the recruiting sessions and what you dare document in writting are worlds apart.  Official court action or not, hiding under crafty wording in your statement does not exempt you from the truth.

 5.    While there have undoubtedly been some casualties resulting from the Biz-Op model which we regret, nevertheless it should be noted we do have many successful distributors and delighted customers both in the UK and overseas.

Some casualties you say....?  It is not the "biz-op" approach to be the blame here.  Your program was flawed from its very design.  Changing your strategy to target the clean-tec sector or the green-tec sector will result in the same tragic ending for many.

When in 2006 the founding Directors hatched their business plan for Enigin, it was apparent that there were a number of decent quality energy saving products that had never been effectively marketed by the owners. Why? Firstly we believe several of these ‘inventors’ had limited business acumen, limited resources and it was evident to us they had little or no sales and marketing expertise.  Companies like Emerson (Control Techniques) and AccuEnergy, and eCube.  I beleive that they were all doing just fine with their marketing.  Re-badging them as your own likely did little to boost their market shares

Suppliers were eager to form relationships with what they saw as an easy readily available conduit to a potential global market. It seemed like a match made in heaven.

Let us allow the one God in heaven to be the ultimate judge on this one.

At the outset Enigin owned the Eniscope name and software platform, the hardware (meter) was sourced from various third parties, as were all of our load-side products. Please note; many of the worlds largest companies source their products from third parties and sell them, by formal agreement, under their brand name.

Don't they then offer some level of value-add to the product?  Do these companies mentioned attempt to sell 24 grand franchises for the rights to distribute re-badged product.  At prices higher than market value?

Although this is no longer the case it was decided at the time that the company would offer a “Business Opportunity” on the global market with applicants being asked to pay an initial distributorship fee. Unfortunately this led to the Enigin brand rapidly being associated more with the Biz-Op marketplace than energy saving technologies. This clearly was unhealthy and needed to change.

Following a change in policy in 2011 the company began a massive investment in research and development into new and innovative areas of energy saving technology resulting in the launch in 2013 of a stunning range of energy saving products that deliver solutions for all of the major sectors namely; Air-conditioning, Refrigeration and AC Motors.

Enigin now own outright all of the IPR related to its core product range and multiple patents, trademarks and copyright design applications protect this. To be clear; Enigin are the registered owners of these patents.

Again, please offer details the patent numbers on file.  This will clearly set the record straight.  Simply repeating this claim does not make it so.  If the patent does not mention Enigin, it is borrowed technology.

Enigin’s products are priced so that in many cases distributors are able to offer end users a payback within two years. Distributor discounts vary from 30-80% off MRSP depending on volume.

Wonderful.  The better test is can the products sell to the marketplace at a competitive level?  The ultimate test to market to the green-tec market is a two year ROI.  Your MSRP is not the proper metric or proof of any changes.

While most of these products are simple retro-fit designs, nevertheless the company now recognises that these need to be distributed in the field only via credible organisations who are adequately resourced to support the products.

This realization has come at a very high cost to many unsatisfied Enigin Distributors (or "casualties").  Many well well resourced and smart individuals who beleived the first revision of your story.  Many who where left abandoned to fend for themselves.  The complaints documented on Ripoffreport are not necessarily a result of the technology (badged or otherwise), they are a result of being abandoned and fleeced from unreasonable fees (20 - 30K).  Changing your recruiting approach will not fix this ethos prroblem.

Walks like a Duck - Talks like a Duck - is a Duck

AUTHOR: David D - ()

POSTED: Thursday, November 07, 2013

I am glad to see that R.G. Daytona has been successful and I congratulate him if he has indeed made a success of the Enigin format. PArt of the Enigin introduction made many references to the successes in the US, Denmark and Greece but not so many in the UK. I have always said that I felt that the business format could not work in the uk and this is supported by the majority of UK distributors I contacted. Enigin were not forthcoming in telling me how many distributors were in the UK and only offered 2 who spoke positively about them.

Both of these two had other businesses where the Enigin contribution was only a small part of their overall business - and one openly gave me figures that confirmed he could not make money with this as a standalone buisness. I on the other hand found many more who were very negative about Enigin where this was their sole buisness offering and could not make money using this business format. Maybe other countries are suitable for the Enigin business format - a format that Enigin themselves have said they have now abandoned - but I also could only find many more failures than successes.

In reviewing R.G. Daytona's website it seems that most of the client references are the old stories that Enigin have used since day one in their marketing material. I would have expected his expanding capabilities and offerings would have allowed more up to date client referals ?. It gives me cause for concern that this is possibly an Enigin sham of more smoke and mirrors ?.

I agree that just purchasing a distributorship will not be an automatic success. However, business formats can be made to look good on paper but be totally unsuited to the marketplace. If one fails and 1 succeed it would be fair to say that the one failure is self inflicted. If 9 fail and 1 succeeds then well done that man. My research has not found one success in the UK and I defy Enigin to give one name that has been successful in the UK with making a profit with the Enigin business format  and Enigin's products.

For myself, I thought I was going to get a tried and tested business format from a reputable company. Only after parting with my money did I find what I actually received for my money. The rest is history.

My Personal Experience with Enigin

AUTHOR: R.G.Daytona - ()

POSTED: Thursday, November 07, 2013

My Personal Experience with Enigin

I have been an Enigin Partner for the last 5 years and in that time, I have built a reputable energy saving business and a solid book of existing satisfied clients.  I came into this business with little to no knowledge of the energy saving industry or energy efficiency in general.

My 1st year of mindshare training with Enigin gave me the foundation knowledge needed to get my business off the ground quickly and since then, Enigin's innovative products and ongoing Mindshare Program have continued to add value and expand my companies capabilities and product offering.

By virtue of the word "Opportunity" as in "Business Opportunity", simply purchasing a distributorship will not insure anyones commercial success.  What I mean to say is that everyone who purchases a distributorship (like the one offered by Enigin) will not automatically become successful and therefore there will always be some percentage of distributors who fail.

Personally, I am motivated by reading about the failure of others because it inspires me to continue working even harder to differentiate myself from those whom have tried before or after me and failed.  Its always disappointing when a person does not recognize their own responsibility in the outcome of a scenario or joint venture but that doesn't make it OK to go online to publish a grievance with the sole intent of hurting the other party.   That shows little character and therefore negates the validity of any comments made by that individual.

Enigin are one of the most transparent companies I know and given the extensive distributor intake process which is strictly adhered to by Enigin with all new distributors, I find it remarkably "unlikely" that a "new distributor prospect" could actually become a fully paid Enigin Distributor and NOT KNOW EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS GOING TO RECEIVE FOR HIS MONEY…

Guilty as Charged

AUTHOR: David D - ()

POSTED: Friday, October 25, 2013

Well well - Enigin is now admitting that the business format they were peddling was what many of their distributors were saying it was after signing up and finding out too late to do anything.

Enigin are trying to make themselves seem like they are actually an ethical company.

They got into a position where there were too many negative reports and are finding it difficult to pull the wool over many more trusting individuals. Thanks to the likes of Ripoff Report many potential distributors have been saved from parting with hard earned money to a useless business format.

Have you ever thought about how a bank robber can rob banks till he is identified and then turns round and says OK - I will not rob any more banks. Would you now trust such a person ?.

Any company that thinks of dealing with Enigin should make sure they do their due dilligence and ask all the questions I should have asked.

Enigin U-Turn on Business Model

In September 2013 Enigin ceased all of its advertising activities focussing primarily on the Biz-Op marketplace, choosing in preference to work more closely with existing successful distributors and form distribution channels exclusively with a handful of high calibre professionals with established businesses, preferably from within the Clean-Tec sector.

Enigin franchise is a scam

AUTHOR: Fool Me Once - ()

POSTED: Friday, September 13, 2013

I applaud David for writing the recent report.  It seems as if Enigin is all about signing up new dealers with zero interests in their success.  There is so much junk out there on the web where Enigin has attempted to control the negative content.  Unfortunately, Enigin’ Directors have already made millions from franchise fees so it is likely that they are in the process to off-load this business.  If they were ever honest about where their revenue comes from you would find that it does NOT come from product sales.  In fact, Enigin has was never successful at running the very model that they sell and claim “you can make millions”.  The energy business is a good business to be in but sending £24,000 Pounds sterling to them is a complete waste.  You can spend a couple of hours searching the web for their claimed patented technology (CUES, ACES, IMEC and Eniscope) to find exact equivalents at a fair market value.  And all of this without the cajoling and badgering that you get from their polished “Salesman” reading off a tailored script.

Thank you for telling the truth and getting the message out.  More needs to be done.  Take the message to Twitter (search @enigin) and Facebook.

Its all TRUE!!!

AUTHOR: Honest truth - ()

POSTED: Friday, August 23, 2013

Unfortunately David is 100% right, I have lost my money with them a year ago, would like to add some more information so more people won’t get hurt by Enigin.

  • All of their products are made by others; quick Google search will lead you to their sites.
  • Case studies are based on their “cues” that are made by someone else, testimonials were written for the original manufacturer who has nothing nice to say about them, Enigin have changed the content to their name.
  • There is no evidence to case studies done by Enigin, it is all borrowed from the original manufacturers
  • The scam busters’ campaign was created to hide Google results very sophisticated and expensive thing to do in order to control search results.
  • Enigin does not have any patents- NONE.
  • An honest company need on website, Enigin owns close to a 100 domains to control search results.

I can only hope other people will not b tempted to their business offers.
