IRS claimed that I was responsible for a debt of a corporation which I did not control, but was authorized to sign for.

I paid Mr. Selig $1,500 to tell me what I had to do to resolve my tax situation.  I had already submitted an "Offer in Compromise" which was not accepted by the IRS.  Mr. Selig said he knew how to file an acceptable offer.  I gave Mr. Selig all my past corrospondence regarding my OIC and finances as well as recent tax returns.

I started calling Mr. Selig a month or so later asking for a progress report.  He said he "was working on it" but had nothing to report.  This went on for five years. I visited his office a couple of times - one time he was there the other time his partner Mr. Dorin was there.  Both times they told me my "case" was high priority and they would have something to tell me soon.

I continued with email exchanges and phone calls to the office every month or two.  There was always some excuse - and assurance that "everything was going well".  He never said he contacted IRS.  He never said he filed an Offer-in-Compromise, he never told my about any oral or written communication with the IRS.

I told him that all I wanted to do was RESOLVE the issue. If he got me what he considered the best deal possible I would agree to whatever terms were necessary to settle with the IRS.  Mr. Selig was aware that my home was in foreclosure because I could not get a mortgage with an IRS lein on my account.  He was aware that I was in treatment for cance and needed to clear up my financial record to finance treatment.

Eventually I sued in NYC small claims court.  I live more than 125 miles from NYC.  It is a long an expensive trip to the city fo file a Small Claims Complaint and appear in court.  Mr. Selig's lawyer got adjournments and date changes that made it impossible for me to continue making trips to NYC without making any progress.
