My daughter and I acted in a film called "Mom and Me" for the Firecracker Film company. They claim they were to sell it to the Oprah "OWN" network to be aired in November on the Oprah show. According to "THEIR" contract (Firecracker Films) once an actor has done a reasonable amount of work they are entitled to one half of the compensation and the other half upon completion. I know my daughter, myself and other family members have exhibited more than half work to this company.
Show was supposed to reflect real true events surrounding our lives. The show was scripted, make belief and did not exhibit any realistic nature with regards to our family. We have worked 10-12 hours per day acting sometimes without breaks, conducted an excessive amount of telephone conversations, responded to countless texts, responded to several voice messages around the clock, and unannounced visits to our home on a regular and ongoing basis. My 13 year old daughter were overstressed, worked and exhausted on all the days mentioned. We worked from July 2, 2011 until July 10, 2011. Then the dates were changed to begin July 2, 2011 and ended on July 12, 2011. The crew disappeared on Sunday July 10, 2011 after filming my family without any further discussion or payment. Prior to these dates, work and expenses consisted of telephone conversations, all hours of the day preventing other progress, texts and a multitude of faxes requested of me.
My family was originally told the filming would begin on July 1, 2011 and end on July 8, 2011. Firecracker Films and its associates changed the dates and threatened me with attorneys if I did not comply. I am requesting payment for my daughter and I for acting. Now we are being ignored and we presume the cast has returned to Santa Monica, California and has negated their financial responsibility to my family. We want to be paid as soon as possible.

My Mom & Me (original title)
AUTHOR: M.Doyle - (United States of America)

My Mom & Me (original title), produced by Firecracker Films for the OWN network, is a documentary series about troubled mother/daughter relationships. The families participating agreed to (after an extensive several month long casting process) open up their lives, problems, and homes to casting directors and producers to document issues stemming from extreme behavior exhibited by the mothers.
There was no acting involved in the unscripted series save re-enacting previous events described to the producers to establish their behavior prior to producers arrival. All families knew from the beginning of the casting process what the show was, and what filming would entail, including hours and expectations. Families agreed to participate in exchange for nominal minor compensation to offset time off work. Contractually, payment was agreed to prior to filming and honored in every case. Dates in production change often, and always with the consultation of the families. All terms were agreed to and contracts signed prior to producers arriving at the familys homes. No family was ever ignored or communication denied. Producers, according to their contractual discretion, did choose to cease filming with a family when they not only refused to allow crews to film their true issues but also demanded additional and excessive payment.
The stellar reputation of Firecracker Films is well reflected in the successful completion of production for this series with 10 fantastic families who experienced amazing transformation. The producers decision not to air the episode of the family discussed here, to pay them in full even though they did not fulfill their contractual obligation, and to not pursue litigation over the breach of their confidentiality agreement by posting this comment, also speaks to the honorable nature of the production.
