Beware of misleading Overstock.com ads.

Overstock.com advertised an American Plastic Toys Children's Kitchen Play Set" for $1.00. When I clicked thru to the Overstock website, the price changed to $44.99.

I used the Overstock.com LiveChat feature to chat with an Overstock's customer service representative named Phil. After providing the link to the online ad, the item # (12340510) and offering to provide a screen grab of the ad, the representative informed me that "We will not be able to sell this item for $1." and "I am sorry, we do not have control over other websites."

My issue with this is that it was an Overstock banner ad--it was not as though another website was providing inaccurate information--Overstock.com created, approved and posted this advertisement.

I feel that Overstock.com should be required to honor the price listed in the misleading banner ad.
