No permits were pulled, No licensed plumbers, electricians, carpenters, not even a professional painter ever was present throughout universals renovation. Once I had exhausted all my funds to get universal into court, I turned to the bbb. The bbb binding arbitration service. It took several months, a lot of fussing, between I & the bbb. I resulted in begging for the bbb for the use of the arbitration services they claim to offer the consumers. A conflict arouse between I & one of their A+ members. This company (Universal Restoration Services) located in Menomonee, Falls WI came to do a major renovation service to my home. They spoke with myself/my Ins company almost daily. This company tore my house a part, & not in a good way. Their workers had no clue what they were doing. They pulled out the kitchen cabinets, and broke the water pipe, which flooded the entire laundry area, rec room & storage area below. secondly they moved my kitchen hutch to the area between the stove/refrigerator which broke the water supply for the refrigerator. The refrigerator water line went un-noticed till the end of the day. These people turned any and all the knobs they could find to shut off the water.I helped with the water clean up. A box of their rags was used up. Little that I knew they started using my dry towels out of my linen closet. Kitchen sink has no water pressure/no hot water. The counter tops wasn't measured correctly. Cut to short they filled the gaps with a lot of caulk. The sink had no pitch to it so the water has to be manually pushed to the drain. They had to many left over parts for the kitchen faucet, it doesn't work properly. They broke off a large portion of my foundation while trying to bring out the old counter top. None of them new how to put the kitchen bi-fold door back up so they staged it. When I came threw the doorway it fell on me. The new kitchen ceramic tiles they laid, went over top of 3 layers of old peel/stick tiles. They painted over the (water damaged) walls, & where the paint had dripped it dried that way (no correction was made). Billed for a 1650 sqft house when my house is only 1356 sqft. This alone increased their price by thousand. They charged to replace the bathroom exhaust fan, I've never had an exhaust fan, and I still don't. Most of the the wiring they broke couldn't be fixed. Multiple items had been stolen; my medication, grandkids large piggy bank, parts of the computer ect... Finally the bathroom toilet had to be removed. they drained the toilet itself but not the tank, so water went everywhere this equals 3 floods. The drop ceiling/recessed lights/clothes furniture all ruined. Toxic lead paint surrounds my house. They never used a tarp during the tare off of the old siding. I paid cash and delivered; the ceramic tiles for the kitchen/floor/back splash+cement board/kitchen sink/the caulk it required/kitchen faucet/bathroom sink & counter+the pipes it needed/all the new ceiling fans & lighting, because they broke them when trying to get them down ect..... The peak of any house has vents. My vents are facing the north/south sides, universal covered them both with the new siding. (now a fire hazard). The bbb also drilled me several times: If I'm going to have an attorney represent @ the arbitration they need to know asap or the arbitration will not happen. I felt that myself, kevin/arbitrator would be the only ones their I didn't need an attorney. (NOT). The bbb long term arbitrator,kevin a member of the bbb, another one of universals management person + their attorney showed up all @ once on my door step. All of them against me. The arbitrator didn't want anything (documents ,inspections, affidavits,pictures, recorded conversations) I had to offer. He gladly retrieved all what their attorney handed him. They all parted together, laughing in my face. I phoned the bbb and stated "why did you set me up""you new all those people were coming" Ms.Lock stated "If I were you I wouldn't have opened the door" "You let them in so the arbitration will remain binding". I stated "what to do in a case like that wasn't in your rule book". The bbb's arbitrator sided with the company. Even though I paid for and delivered a lot of the items they were to purchase. A court date is set up to make their finding official. I will have a lien placed on my house. They're so much more to this nightmare. What This company & the bbb did to me still seems like a bad dream. I have to pay them? Keeping all the documents to prove every word hasn't helped me. No agency out their has been able to help me. Is this what america has to offer? They can't protect their own disabled people whom can't fight back? The bbb protects their own. That company maintains an A+ rating with the bbb. Who protects me????? I'm a person to.

Well, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that I'm not the only one who has received poor service from BBB Wisconsin. I've had similar dealings with the BBB and Ms. Michuda in particular.
My complaint was closed without any notice sent to me. It was also closed with the BBB stating that the company made a best effort to help resolve the matter even though they did nothing of the sort and refused arbitration. I have requested that the decision and criteria for the decision be sent to me in writing twice now, and have heard nothing back from the BBB in regards to this matter. I guess the BBB thinks I will drop it. If they ignore me I'll just go away. It pains me to know that an organization that is supposed to keep businesses honest has such poor service and looks out for its on interests ahead of the ethics for which is stands. The company in question still has an A+ rating and is still accredited.
I feel for the people that have been abused by the BBB, and am sorry that they had their trust in the organization violated.

Ms Lock the Wisconsin BBB Director of operations, and her partner in crime Ms Kathy Michuda.
The problem started with the chicago, IL BBB with Ms. Took. These people never intended to give me a fair arbitration. To all the readers out there:
1) The BBB set up the arbitration.
2) The BBB trained a person they thought wood be a good candidate to arbitrate for them.
So this guy Mr. Richard Woods is now the arbitrator. He had no clue what he was doing, also he refused to any of the evidents revalent to this case, I had to offer.
3)The BBB sent multiple letters prior to the arbitration that stated " We must know if you are going to have an attorney present. we must know ASAP. So the opposing side would have time to lawyer up if need be. I told them " If their not coming with a lawyer i'm not either. The arbitration was to have only myself, the company in question, the BBB's self made arbitrator. Once the BBB was made aware that I for sure wasn't going to have an attorney present, what happened next amazed me. The BBB's self made arbitrator arrive with Universal's manager Kevin Sobotka plus there attorney Brad Arnold moments later another head manager arrived Albert Lozano. After this short visit, of course the arbitrator sided with Universal. I wanted to know how could this so called arbitrator render a decision without investigating any evidence. A set up by the BBB.
4) Universal Restoration Services still has an A+ rating.
5) On the internet, find TV station ABC 20/20 Brian Ross did a investigation regarding how creditable/trust worthy the BBB really is. See for yourself; Veiw the month of November 2010, make your own decision . The BBB isn't what the say they are.
6) I will not ever trust the BBB ever. The BBB works only for there paying custmer. The CEO of the BBB makes a 6 figure salary. I'm sure Universal Restoration Service paid the BBB a lump sum to do what they did to me. Saying they are a non-profit organization, protects them from paying a ment in taxes, & some how protects them from being sued.
7) The BBB sets up the arbitration, picks out your un-licensed arbitrator, writes what your agreement to arbitrate should say, the BBB controls it all. all you do is sign it, then they take you to court & now you have a lien on your home. To me the BBB shouldn't be allowed to offer such a service. So if you are disabled and on a fixed income & unable to hire an attorney the BBB will take advantage of you. I'm sure universal paid the BBB a lot of money to set me up. universal shouldn't be a company. Universal/BBB remain out there free unpunished to do the same to someone else. I will not stop fighting for my day in court. With enough complaints the BBB can be brought to justice. All I wanted was to prove how bad this company messed up my house, and I ended up with a lien on my house thanks BBB.

While we understand your frustration with the arbitration process. The process was explained, in detail, several times by myself and Kathy. Arbitration is, in most cases, a win/lose situation. Meaning, one party typically is awarded all, or a portion of, what they are seeking, and the other party is not awarded anything. Your accounting of the arbitrator's name and what was said by BBB when you called is very different from what our records show. All we can do is apologize that you're not happy with how the arbitration turned out.

Its you the consumer who has paid nothing to the BBB...the BBB "member" who has furnished REVENUE to the BBB for their "membership" and PHONEY ACCREDITATION and the "mediator". The "mediator" is a BBB PAID EMPLOYEE! Do you actually think you are on a level playing field?
The BBB is a clear cut, very obvious SCAM. Go to You Tube and search "BBB Scam".
Come on BBB, defend yourself! Tell us how wrong I am! You people SMELL worse than an uncleaned porta-potty thanks to YOUR SCAM, YOUR SHAM and YOUR DECEPTION!

This is my experience with the BBB at this location. A friend of mine who had his car in a BBB member service station to the tune of over $1200 was still having the same problem with it. He contacted the BBB about it, at this location on Greenfield ave. His description of how they treated him would have been beyond belief, except that I have know him for 15+ years and know him to be a 100% honest person. Well, I am a business owner and a member of the BBB myself for ten years, so I thought I would be able to jump into the situation and perhaps get somewhere. My personal experience with the BBB was beyond absurd. I was directly lied to as to who I was speaking with and their title, and the details of this issue. Their final opinion on the car issue was that it was an old car so it shouldn't run good anyway. As a former ASE certified mechanic, the problem with his car was with the accellerator pump in the carburator, nothing else. This shop charged him twice for a carburator rebuild (in addition to just about everything else you can replace on a car) and didn't get it right either time. But the BBB's stance was rigid, and even though I had caught them directly lying to me, they were uninterested in even trying to come up with an excuse. I was so astounded at how badly they treated me, even as a member, that I filed a formal written complaint, which they "lost". I then contacted the BBB corporate headquarters. I was told that the only way they would get involved is if I had proof they had broken the law. I told them that I did not have that, but I had clear proof that they had directly lied on numerous occassions, in addition to their groundless defense of the repair shop. They were simply not interested.
In my opinion, whatever good the BBB was in the past is now long gone. They have one interest only, and that is defending the businesses that pay their yearly BBB membership fees.
