Michael Bateman, born and raised in Sebring, FL has failed, for the past 3 years to make any child support payments or to even bother to contact his daughter.  Before he abruptly fell off the face of the Earth he had made numerous promises to his then 12 year old daughter.  Promises, that when broken, left her heart broken and crying and on the point of suicide.  As she told me, "There must be something wrong with me if my own father can't love me."  (I did take her to counseling to help her through this situation.)

He has managed to get away with these crimes with his family's help.  His brother's own a company call Bateman and Son's Construction, and while I have no physical proof that he working under the table for them, I do believe he is based on a newspaper article.  He and his brother Eddie were in a car accident while "leave the job".

CSE has sent an income deduction order to Bateman and Son's only to have it rejected.  Last week Michael was seen shopping at the local mall.  Amazing that a man who hasn't worked in 3 years can afford to go shopping.

Several months ago his picture was in the newpaper as he played golf for his brother's charity.  This has been an ongoing situation and while they have suspended his license, public records prove that he has been arrested for driving on a suspended license, nothing else is being done.  He needs to pay my daughter what is owed to her and he needs to step up and be a father as opposed to just a sperm donor.  It's not like he was asked to pay hundreds of dollars a week.  The support order is less than $100 a week, and he is not in arrears $30,000.  I guess that $94 a week cuts too much into his nightly beer fund.

I just want him found and for him to step up to his responsibilities and for his family to stop protecting him.

I would have to agree that he does fit the bill for a dead beat dad. If all that is asked is $100 a week to save for a childs college, then yes. Thanks, americas home program

I think It Qualifies

Just responding to the person that said this father is "NOT" a deadbeat DAD.  I think if he owes over $30,000 in back child support that qualifies as a deadbeat!!  I see this all the time. "Well he's a good father, he loves his child", this and that from brainwashed friends, girlfriends and so forth.

What you need to stop and think is, hey this guy does owe $30,000 that goes for the support of his child. I don't care if he does not like his ex wife, I don't care if he thinks she should spend the money on this or that, and not on this bill or that bill, that is not his choice. If the child support was ordered to be paid by the court, man up and take care of your responsibility.

Yes, I am a man and not a female trying to take up for another woman.  The excuses just never seem to amaze me. Stop taking up and covering up for these people. They owe the money, SO PAY IT!!!!

Well, ok, but...

Ok, you're right, Charlene. I see now that there is a category to post legitimate complaints against deadbeat dads. However, Michael Bateman is definitely not a dead beat dad.

Actually...this site has a category for dead beat parents

In reply to the gentleman above, Rippoff reports isn't only a place for consumers to air their disappointment with a company.  There are numerous other instances of parents looking for dead beat ex's.

As an update to the earlier report, Michael has been found and is somewhat keeping in contact with his daughter.

Wrong website, sweetie.

Why are you posting this here? This is a website where people blog about businesses that allegedly ripped them off. It's not for people posting complaints about their ex's.

Typo in initial report

AUTHOR: Charlene - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 13, 2011

At the end of the initial report I said that he is "not in arrears for $30,000"  It should have said that he IS in arrears for $30,000 and that number is going up every week.  This was money that is supposed to go into her college fund and help pay her school expenses.
