Prof. Samir Barua is Director of IIMA. Prof. B. H. Jajoo is Dean of IIMA. Mr. N. V. Pillai is Chief Administrative Officer of IIMA and is charged with execution of Board of Governors (BoG) resolutions as its Secretary.

IIM Ahmedabad assumes high moral grounds in conduct of its activities. As is apparent from referred document (100804 Ketan 2 BoG.zip), fundamental rights (right to information and right to fair and equitable employment) of a citizen were compromised by unethical conduct by senior officials from IIM Ahmedabad. These documents betray significant erosion in ethical/ moral conduct at IIM Ahmedabad and expose shenanigans of top management officials.

Referred documents contain information that is useful for consumer welfare in education sector and also help build reasoned public opinion on practices in public funded organizations in India.

On 15-Sep-2010 Director Prof. Barua (100915 Director 2 Amitabh.zip) asserted, quote ...I am proud of being an alum of two great institutions - IITK and IIMA. I would not do anything that is even remotely inimical to rights of an individual to be treated fairly by an organization.... This when he himself was busy doing exactly the opposite.

A man who pretends morality has to be exposed.

Director Prof. Barua (and BoG through its Secretary) indulged in misplaced argumentum ad hominem (http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Ad+personam) fallacies when they tried to discredit Mr. Ketan Bhatt on the basis of attributes which were totally irrelevant to what Mr. Bhatt had presented in his communications. It appears that they were only trying to evade accountability (for themselves as well as BoG) for their own misdemeanor and serious breach of public faith. A proud alum of IIMA/ IITK would not have disputed merits of an individuals writings on the basis of his personal demeanor. A skilled WIMWIan would have picked up grains (substantive issues) to respond to, instead of collecting chaff.

On 18-Feb-2009 Secretary to IIMA BoG alleged that Mr. Ketan Bhatt (as an employee of the institute) was favoring a particular vendor in multi-million rupee ERP implementation at IIM Ahmedabad. Moreover on 13-Mar-2009 Secretary to IIMA BoG leveled many more allegations of personal demeanor on Mr. Bhatt. Together, these two decisions paint picture of a totally worthless and corrupt employee Mr. Ketan Bhatt.

It appears that Mr. Bhatt himself wrote numerous communications to various functionaries and IIMA BoG requesting proper inquiry in to these allegations. However, for whatever reasons, BoG is not inclined to conduct inquiry into allegations leveled by its own Secretary.

The fact that Mr. Bhatt continues to be employed with IIM Ahmedabad (even 2 years after such a dire prognosis on his character) is clear indication that he has bought in to IIMA BoG or has struck some sort of compromise so as not to open Pandoras box. This is very serious rip-off on public faith.

Computer Services Committee (CSC) of IIM Ahmedabad decides on purchase of IT equipments and services worth a lot. As such deliberations of CSC are vital records of public interest. Refer to page#2-4 ofhttp://www.rti.india.gov.in/complaint_direct/RC_UG_10_10282lpbi_doc1.pdf

The official, Prof. Rama Rao, whose wife, allegedly, ran away (2007) with vital CSC records will himself be retiring in Feb-2011. Prof. Rama Rao was appointed to the post of CSC Chair on 30-Mar-2010, i.e. just 13 days after Central Information Commission ordered (http://www.rti.india.gov.in/cic_decisions/AD-17032010-10.pdf)

FREE supply of 23000+ pages of CSC MoM records to Mr. Bhatt. It appears that Prof. Rama Rao was brought-in with agenda to wipe clean whatever remaining traces of CSC records that existed after hasty retreat by his wife.

Along with exit of husband-wife duo, institute will also forget and forgive CSC minutes which decided on purchases worth tens of crores of rupees over past 2 decades. This is very serious rip-off on accountability.

When a constable pays to get favorable posting, it is but natural that some poor chap (stack-holder) needs to payback! In corporate-babudom, successful babus are those who manage to skillfully trade closure to the fine line of divide between good-evil, moral-immoral. Mantra - stay close to the divide line. Sneak in to evil side to gulp down crumbs with generous helpings of moral preachings (smokescreen). And immediately hurry back to sh*t in brothers account. Rarely does a Ramalinga Raju gets caught with bloody hands. Student constable is agnostic and willing to pay higher fees as long as the deal leaves him with ample on field opportunities. Bear it for 2 years. Get the seal of approval stamped on your persona (Idiot istyle!) and push-off.

Institute did NOT have Record Destruction Register, Vigilance Register, Grievance Register till recently when pressure forced authorities to make amends. Even Directors office did not maintain diary for recording movement of letters/ files. Would it suffice to procure blank notebooks, label them and proclaim all is well? And then go target practicing on the whistleblower who forced course correction.

Non-responsive BoG, malafide executive and sabotaged vigilance give field day to corrupt officials. It also leaves whistleblower employee without proper support system, guidance and grievance redressal, thereby forcing whistleblower to do their own detective work and search for radical solutions thereby endangering their fundamental right to fair and equitable employment. Truth, honesty and integrity are the biggest casualty.

It appears that institute has scant regard for CVC Act, RTI Act, Criminal Procedure Code and fundamental civil rights. Oblivious of public interest and riding on proactive media support (and resultant hands-off approach by Ministry of HRD), institute officials aspire to slice out an imperium in imperio within India. Oligarchy, under faade of autonomy.

Sue me if you can. Decision makers at offending institutions are wealthy and politically well connected with their hands on public treasury. Through public funds they engage services of best lawyers to defend their arrogance. While a common citizen is hamstrung to engage lawyer out of his/her own meager savings. These powerful people manage to get away with transgressions just because they have made it unreasonably costly for lay citizen to get justice.

IIM Ahmedabad is a rip-off in terms of wastage of public funds including student fees, violation of human rights and denial of fair and equitable employment opportunities. It is also a rip-off on other civil rights, ethics and morality that citizens of India expect from a public institution.

Strangely, accreditation norms at EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA permit accreditation to an institution with such serious issues in governance and which violate fundamental civil rights and condone moral turpitude by top executives. Civil Society in India, Europe and America may help build reasoned public opinion so as NOT to mislead next generations of student consumers.
