Eric Sheets Intl was selling a 117K Porsche 993 in an unusual color.  We only received 5 photos because he claimed the weather wouldn't cooperate.  The price based on his version of the condition of the car was very fair so my wife and I drove the 600 miles to buy it.

I inspected the vehicle and found some bad paint repairs below the bottom of the rear window which he and his partner claimed they couldn't see so we knew it needed some light body work.  For the mechanic inspection I found several oil leaks on the engine that are repairable but was told there were NO leaks during our phone conversion including his mechanic.  The test drive was fine and the car's mechanical condition is fine except for the oil leaks.  The only real problem was the paint repair under the rear window.

The following Monday I had taken her to a repair shop to get the smog test and it was pointed out that the entire rear section of the car was been repainted.  This pulls the resale value of the car down by thousands unless we're ready to have her cleaned up properly.  I called Eric Sheets to ask him for a $2,000 refund to make for the newly found information and he said "NO WAY" and hung up the phone.  This is the kind of business that ruins the experience for everyone.  This group buys damaged vehicles and cleans up enough to sell without disclosing the repairs.  The CarFax on this car shows absolutely NO paint work but the repair is less than one month old.

My advice:  Steer clear of Sweet Home, Oregon for Porsche sales, you never know what you're gonna get!

Website full of stories

AUTHOR: ESI - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 31, 2012

After contacting our lawyer even Mr. Dorton could not remove this report. This entire website is a scam. Pay us over $2,000.00 to have the report removed. I say the joke is also on the people posting fraudulent reports here and hopefully some of them do have their reputations as damaged by asociation as the innocent victims reported on here are.
I am sure there have been people who did not purchase cars from us due to this but if they are that impressionable then clearly the problem is not us.
Feel free to contact us anytime and I can provide you with any relevant documentation to put your mind at ease. Thank goodness for the Internet it makes buying the National Enquirer pointless.

The "L" word was finally used

AUTHOR: Hal - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, December 02, 2011

Eric Sheets from ESI finally used the word lie so I will continue.  If ESI had fully disclosed (read: not lied)  the fact that the car was repainted poorly, had some rust under the rear window and a blown A/C evaporator core we could have decided to counter the original price of $24,900.  He said the car was in great condition and we made arrangements to drive the 1,300 mile round trip.  He lied about the condition of the car to make a sale.  A Porsche enthusiast would have fully disclosed the condition of her instead of lying about it and then we could have agreed on the repair cost and come to a mutually beneficial price fair for everyone.

As I recall, after learning from our local body shop that she the entire rearend of the car had been poorly repainted I called to tell you that the car had passed smog but was very unhappy with the news I just learned.  The repaint just knocked off several thousand dollars of the value of the car and wanted you to reimburse me $2,000 to compensate me for the devaluation.

The A/C system is just icing on the cake!  We didn't even know about the A/C problem because you just recharged it instead of repairing it. A very expensive repair even for an auto shop.  The $815.00 paint repair will only repair the rust damage, it does not correct the cars lowered valuation from having been poorly repainted.  If this car salesman had been honest about the real condition of the vehicle I would have either offered less money or walked away.  Eric Sheets knows I had just seen a tired 95 993 earlier in the week and passed because the fully disclosed condition was identical in needed repairs to what I purchased from him in Sweet Home, OR.

In conclusion:  We really like this car and have named her Gretchen.  The local PCA members were glad to see we bought her and have began making the required repairs instead of hiding them for the next person.  Regardless of the distance, you need to have any high end vehicle taken to a qualified paint shop to make sure there are no accidents or undisclosed paint work and then to an auto repair shop to inspect the running gear and all systems on the car.  Get the dealer to pay for the inspection as part of the sale price and negotiate for the problems identified.  It's my fault that I bought such a poorly represented vehicle

Thank You

AUTHOR: ESI - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, December 02, 2011

Thank you Hal for making it clear that Yes you have demanded money after the sale of a car before. So clearly if they pay off your demands then you are still in good standing with them if they don't they wind up on unregulated sites like this.

Thank you for pointing out that even under an inspection the leak in the AC could not have been seen.

Thank you for pointing out that the paintwork you demanded $2,000.00 for (which is a lie BTW you called and demanded $500.00) was only $815.00 Even though you approved of the alleged paintwork before you purchased the car?

For the final lie of the day please see Eric Sheets International link at the Better Business Bureau not showing anything negative.

If you are so inclined please Google Hal Dorton and see his businesses and at least one other business he has filed such a report against.

Thanks again Hal you have left no doubt who you are and how you go about your business dealings.

Hundreds of happy customers and one Hal Dorton

Used car dealers

AUTHOR: Hal - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, December 01, 2011

ESI in Sweet Home, OR is not using the word extortion correctly.  After a conversation with several of the PCA members in Zone 7 they suggested ripoff report and the local BBB to at least get the word out.  The BBB had no record of the business until now and they have considered this matter UNRESOLVED and IT will reflect negatively.  Hopefully more people will see these posting and at least think twice about all records available and a more thorough PPI.  The paint issue is very important but it's only skin deep.  The A/C system is also damaged wiht a leaking evaporator core buried deep inside the dash.  This item could not b eidentified as leaking under a normal inspection since while it still holding refrigerent the system will conitue to function normally.  The A/C evaporator repair will cost $1480.00 for all parts and 8 hours of labor to install.  The paint work and small rust damage under the rear window has been inspected and will be repaired for $815.00 in January 2012 after we conclude our autocross season.  All the engine oil leaks which we knew about have been sealed and we are enjoying the car.  Used car purchases don't have to go sour if all information is disclosed.  Mr. Sheets believes I've used this tactic before.  When we purcahsed our other track car and the check engine light came on in the first hour of our long ride home, the previous owner gave us the money to purchase the required parts at my cost to make the necessary repairs.  We are still on good terms because of the way he handled the transaction.  Full disclosure is the best way to do business.  For a used Porsche 993 C2 we purchased for $24,900 with NO issues now has close to $3,000 in repairs.

Hal Dorton quite a storyteller.........

AUTHOR: ESI - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, December 01, 2011

I hesitate to respond to this nonsense and give it the appearance of credibility but since the internet allows anyone with a keyboard to slander good people and businesses I must.

Swiftly cleared by the Better Business Bureau and three different versions of Mr. Dortons story later I will simply say: I will not respond to extortion or lies about my integrity. Hundreds of happy customers and many years specializing in air cooled Porsches. My business speaks for itself.

If you are in business long enough you too will encounter a Hal Dorton and I recommend taking the high road. If you come in contact with this guy make sure you get everything in writing as I did to save you from being extorted to shut him up with money. He is just one of those guys.

Hal, Enjoy your car and my advice is putting lies in print will come back to haunt you.

Eric Sheets
