He does not know who these people are, has not checked their background and has no way of knowing if they are actually qualified or not. If you are crazy enough to hire this loon just ask those guys who show up to show you proof of their insurance (they don't have it), proof of workmans comp liability (don't have it) proof of their business license (don't have one) and proof they are qualified in any way (they are not). Ask Travis to supply you with a copy of the company's insurance paperwork and contact the company listed because he uses fake documentation for everything. His domains in his ads are all using bogus registration information as well.

There were at least eight cities targeted yesterday. 
If you want to find Travis just copy the text from one ad and paste it into Google, it will almost always lead you to at least four other cities running the same ad with a different website name matching that city however it always leads to the same phone number and the same man.

He can claim it's competition all he wants. He can claim people are lying all he wants. Truth is Googling the name Travis Reed, his phone numbers or the names from any of his ads leads to complaints from one coast to the other. He's been running this scam for at least two years now and has screwed up so many peoples houses it's not funny and he never goes to jail for it because it's the day labor he hired and sent to your home who are doing the actual destruction and the homeowners lack of verifying this man, his identity or the identity of the workers he sends to your home that causes this to happen.

He advertises on Angie's List for the Big Deal. His cell phone # is 301-646-9100 with Montoya Painting and Decorating. Do yourself a favor and Look on craigslist you will find a much cheaper deal and better quality work.

Early 2014 and this company is still operating! I responded to a craigslist ad for www.rentpainters.com to have my home painted. "Travis" (not even sure if Reid is his last name) collected $200 dollars via paypal and then sent a "crew" to my home.

The crew showed up with no supplies whatesover and I was promptly ordered to go and purchase all supplies (plastic, brushes, covers etc..) they did not even have a ladder. They looked like they had been picked up off the street, no painting attire or truck. They started to paint and immediately I knew I had made a huge mistake. None spoke english (luckily I speak spanish) and was informed that they dont work for Travis and simply work by the day and were hired an hour earilier. One had done painting professionally and the other 3 had zero experience. The painting was horrible, drips everywhere, uneven cut lines and paint on everything from door knobs to blinds and flooring. They caused THOUSANDS IN DAMAGE, yet mid-day refused to leave. 

Before paying I asked to see the license and insurance given the horrible level of quality that would now cost me far more than the job to remedy. I figured that I would have to file against their bond with the California State Licensing Board or their insurance to have my home repaired. Immediately, travis' foreman became extremely hostile and threatening. I called Travis and was told that he would "FIND ME AND MAKE ME PAY" and is "$300 WORTH HAVING MY HEAD BASHED IN FOR".

I have since found almost 10 websites connected to "Travis" in various states. I hired an attorney who claims that he has no address, no phone number and is conclusively not licensed as a general contractor or painter IN ANY STATE. In short, he collects $200 and sends day laborers to your home who you then have to pay. There is no license, insurance or bond and therefore you have zero recourse if your home is ruined, you are robbed or if a worker bacame injured YOU would have to pay. Worst of all Travis is now sending me constant threatening messages using racial slurs, and long strings of threatening profane language. I have called the police who are tracing his bogus websites and IP addresses used to make the craigslist ads.

TRAVIS IS A CRIMINAL, DO NOT LET HIM OR ANYONE AFFILIATED WITH THIS COMPANY IN YOUR HOME.

He stated that he also tells people who inquire with his company to avoid our company and forwards them links to this rip off report along with other complaints he has made about us. It has become part of his scheme to take away our business. We have also had potential clients call us and let us know that we we're slandered by this person during his sales pitch and it made them feel uncomfortable that this person would focus so much of his time bashing our company rather than speak to them about their project. Travis Reid is a con artist located in VA and DC.  He is also running craigslist scams in AZ and CO now.  He uses PayPal for the deposit and then tells you to pay the "professional licensed and bonded painters the rest of the money when they are done".  After 4 days and $2400 the entire inside of my home was destroyed.  The painters finally told me that they were just day laborers that answered an ad on craigslist and that they were not painters at all.  They did not cover my wood floors or brand new carpet...it is all destroyed now. Here are some names to look out for as this guy is a complete scum bag.

Arizona Painting Crew, Denver Painting Crew, The Painters, ReidLLC.  He has local phone numbers for every state he is running his scam in ...they just forward to his number in VA. 

Travis Reid gets confused and will post his Denver Painting Crew ad's in AZ by mistake.  He should have stayed in VA with his scams becuase what he does not realize is that he has now committed a "federal offense".  It is called interstate commerce fraud as he has now used PayPal to take money from one state to the next state.  In other words; he crossed state lines with money obtained in a scam.  This now becomes a "federal" matter.

This company now has ads listed on Craiglist. It claims to be licensed but it has no license number. I was not able to locate any information for the Better Business Bureau for this company. The owner is rude and the workers sent didn't know English at all. The work was for the day which was eight hours but nothing got done. It was stated that I was to pay the full amount after the work was done but the rude owner demanded I pay 60% up front. The workers made me feel extremely uncomfortable and it looks like only an hour of work was done. Avoid this company at all costs. I would have filled a report with the BBB but it doesn't exist. Please avoid. I've done my part to warn you.

(YES most of this businesses are hispanic owned but just because they are hispanic owned doesn't mean they ALL working against you...to dominate craigslist,,, YOU (RENT A PAINTER),,, you started this mess ON craigslist and here on RIP OFF report AND now all of these companies and painters know that you are behind the harrassments.....If YOU THE OWNER OF (RENT A PAINTER) IS NOT DOING THIS then it must be the person you have in charge of your marketing and advertising.

On saturday january 16 2010, One of the companies being harrassed CONTACTED ONE OF OUR PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS after WE had warned them OF THE situation a few days before:

THEY received a Blocked phone call from ( Rent a Painter ) saying: " I KNOW IS YOU, YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS, YOU ARE MY ENEMIES NOW"..

the company contacted the local authorities (911) to file a report against them.

(RENT A PAINTER CREW),,, YOU ARE GETTING YOUR SELF IN MORE PROBLEMS WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS AND NOW WITH THE AUTHORITIES:

The said negative listing above can definitely affect our online reputation. Nothing is more frustrating than working to build rapport with a potential client, only to lose the deal when they Google your company name. The above report was done in an attempt to slander our company brand. The person responsible for this listing is obviously a competitor who wants to tarnish our image. As a potential customer please consider the grammar and false claims of this unprofessional person. I would like the public to know that this claim is completely false.
